Thereby placing himself in the best position to capitalising on Vettel's mistake, when it presented itself.

Team Mercedes and Hamilton and Bottas had done well in choosing and deploying their race strategy during the race. 

 With probably their most serious mistake being around the confusion which led to Hamilton being told to box his car for a tyre change.  

 Only to decide to abort the manoeuvre after having already taken the pit lane. 

 A move for which Mercedes was given a reprimand after the race, and one for which some fans felt Hamilton should have been given a penalty. 


For what they claim is inconsistency in the FIA's application of the rules, and favouritism towards Mercedes. 

 Of course, the German Grand Prix of 2018 was like no other Grand Prix. It has proven itself to have been a unique event. 

 So much so that people should not blind themselves to the need for some discretion in dealing with what might appear to have been similar situation in the past.

And so, with the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as Vettel dropping the Championship baton, on this occasion.  


As well as the hoped for and actual occurrence of rain, and the confusing effect it had on the teams' choices of race strategies. 

 And a polite team instruction from Mercedes to Bottas, Hamilton and Mercedes succeeded in securing probably their most unlikely, but most acclaimed 1, 2 Grand Prix victory. 

 The winning of the 2018 German Grand Prix. An event which left Hamilton both ecstatic and full of humility. 

 So much so that, as well as giving much heart felt thanks to his Mercedes Team, he also commented on the greatness of God.

Diplomacy ought to be the process by which nations, through their governments, establish and maintain mutually beneficial and peaceful relationships between them; Diplomacy is not, like the Gulf Cooperation Council members and their allies, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE states, trying to bully and intimidate Qatar into doing their bidding, by surrendering its sovereignty.  Neither is diplomacy what the American government is doing, in using sanctions to force the governments of states of Iran, Russia and North Korea, into complying with its demands.  About what action they should or should not take in pursuing what they consider to be in the interest of their countries and people.  No, none of this is diplomacy. Rather it is method of force and compulsion, which is not synonymous with principle or practice of diplomacy.  Which is about the art of establishing and maintaining peaceful and mutually beneficial relationships between different countries.
