JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE OFTENTIMES ILLUSIVE PURSUIT OF LLAPOH. PART 2.

'The essentials', or 'the basics', are terms which are relative to your socio-economic' status in life; they are not absolute terms which apply in every situation.

 Of course, it is also the case that the Americans, in order to realise the achievement of the 'PLLAH', have acquired the reputation for being Calvinistic in their work ethic. 

Including many of them doing many jobs or combining study with working, in their attempt to earn as much as they can. 
To avail themselves of the material accoutrements of the illusive pursuit of what is, in effect, 'the American dream.' 



All in pursuance of the myth, for the majority, the improbable belief that, if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything in America and rise to fill any post or position.

Which, of course, is patently not the case, as it is not given to everybody and anybody in America to realise the dream of becoming 'anybody' they want to become. 

 Not only is the logic of having to work at too many jobs and too many hours is questionable, since it leaves you less time to enjoy the fruits of your labour. 

 But it might also entails you inflicting too much hardship and unhappiness on yourself, and even those around you. 


We know, for instance, that it is highly probable for white men to become the President of the United States of America. 

And that the chances of them becoming president is much greater than it is for people of any other ethnic group and/or gender to do so. 

We also know that, being white is only one of several criteria which the aspirant presidential candidate has to have. 

Others include him being a member of one of the two main political parties. 

Yet another requires him to have access to massive amounts of money or funding, either his or other people's.

Diplomacy ought to be the process by which nations, through their governments, establish and maintain mutually beneficial and peaceful relationships between them; Diplomacy is not, like the Gulf Cooperation Council members and their allies, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE states, trying to bully and intimidate Qatar into doing their bidding, by surrendering its sovereignty.  Neither is diplomacy what the American government is doing, in using sanctions to force the governments of states of Iran, Russia and North Korea, into complying with its demands.  About what action they should or should not take in pursuing what they consider to be in the interest of their countries and people.  No, none of this is diplomacy. Rather it is method of force and compulsion, which is not synonymous with principle or practice of diplomacy.  Which is about the art of establishing and maintaining peaceful and mutually beneficial relationships between different countries.
