IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 20.

'Like death and bereavement, at times when we are experiencing what seems like 'our worse nightmares', we tend not to be aware of the fact that, 'our worse nighmares' are in fact no more than everyday adversities which many other people are having to contend with.'

It would not be long before Nzuri and Mfanyazaki would draw a connection between the police siren and their son being arrested or being looked for by the police.

This led to Nzuri and Mfanyazaki – and probably Mzaliwa – becoming acutely anxious each time they hear a police siren.

As they would invariably assumed it that it would be on its way to their home; especially if Kazaliwa was out.

Mfanyazaki remembered the day when his wife, at her wits end, went out of their house to confront the female police officer.  Who, once again, had turned up wanting to talk about Kazaliwa.

Without any apparent due respect for the law, Nzuri pointedly told the officer to clear off from her home, as she was fed up with their regularly and unsolicited visits.

Which she felt was no less than harassment of her family. Probably taken aback by Nzuri's unexpected response to her visit, the officer tried to explain the reason for her it.

But Nzuri was now beyond wanting to hear, so the officer retraced her steps to her car and left.

Not being one who is given to 'making or wanting to be in scenes', events like this evoked some unease in Mfanyazaki. It would lead him to wonder if the Police would then target their son even more.

Prior to that incident, Mfanyazaki had had an uncomfortable and self-perceived shameful encounter with the same officer.  Who, having been allowed by Mfanyazaki to come into their home.

Then went about taking him to task, for what she implied was him being soft on Kazaliwa.  Whom she said was being targeted and groomed by drug dealers, down by the local shops.

Mfanyazaki remembered how Kazaliwa attempted to ‘defend’ him, by telling the police officer that she could not come to his dad’s house and talk to him like she did.

To be continued!
