JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON WHETHER THE HUMAN CONDITION WILL GET BETTER? PART 4.

Of course there will be periods when peace and stability will seem to be the order of the age in most places. 

But such periods of calm and stability, lack of conflict and disquiet, are unlikely to be the norm.

So, no. Unfortunately, in many places where poverty, gang warfares, ethnic, communal, tribal and religious conflicts are occurring.  

They will continue to simmer or get worse. Of course some of the havesnot become achieve a certain amount of upward mobility, and will progress to joining the ranks of the haves. 

Just as how some among the haves, despite their best efforts, are fated to become downwardly mobile, and will be demoted to joining the havesnots. 

Some improvements will be wrought in parts of the dismal favelas, the 'slums' and ghettoes of the world.  

But it is very likely that these forlorn  places, which have become the valued homes of millions, will continue to increase and expand. Becoming even more despairing and chaotic than they already are. 

The torture chambers which are euphemistically called prisons, could improve and become less hellish. 

However, the chances are that they will become more hades-like, as neither the will, the enlightenment or the resources will be available to humanise them.

Having become accustomed to accepting the need to punish the guilty, and to this as a necessary, if not the only way of doing so. 

We humans have become largely impervious to accepting any other method of punishing offenders. And there are those with a vested interest in maintaining this status quo.  

And what of the poor, they, surely, will always be there, here and everywhere.
