JUST A THOUGHT - ON BRITAIN'S NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE'S 70TH BIRTHDAY. PART I.

Blessed and accursed can be a people who, when they are really sick, do not have to suffer the additional trauma of becoming overly worried about the medical cost of their treatment.

Such are the people of the United Kingdom, whose National Health Service has their backs.

In order for us humans to enjoy the beauty of life and living, at its best, it is necessary for us to be in a state of reasonably good health.

We can be at our best, not only when we are free of physical, emotional and /or psychological pain.

But also we all of our senses are in good health. When we are able to see, to feel, have movements to be able to touch, to hold, to taste, and to hear.

When we are in a state of pain, resulting from whatever ailment, which is beyond our capability or inclination to deal with ourselves.

We resort to accessing the medical services available to us outside.

The type of medical services we are able to access under the auspices of the state or public sector, and the conditions, including any upfront fees or charges which we have to meet.

Is  a measure of compassion and benevolence of the country in which we live.

Modern health care systems, to some extent, are not necessarily the best systems, but they are probably the most costly.

This is partly because they have, at least in the more industrialised countries, become a 'consumeristic service.'

They are available, at least in those countries, such the United Kingdom, where their is a state funded national health service.

To be continued!
