JUST A THOUGHT - ON BRITAIN'S NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE'S 70TH BIRTHDAY. PART 2.

They become almost an on-demand service, and, since the consumer or patient oftentimes does not have to pay anything like the actual cost of the service.

At the point of it being provided, open to misuse and abuse of the system.

The whole culture of the relatively free national health service is premised on the false belief that you can be cured of nearly any sickness or disease.

And that you are entitled to any treatment necessary to cure you or alleviate your adverse medical condition.

The situation becomes even more untenable when it is applied to everybody.

Which is partly the reason why Britain's National Health Service, during the year of its, her 70th birthday, is largely a broken or breaking system.

Too much is expected and being asked of it. Much more than it can continue to give, even if the amount of funding continue to be increased exponentially.

It might be expected that, like a doctor, Britain's NHS should be able to 'heal itself', but this is no more so than it would necessarily have been for a doctor.

Partly because the necessary treatment might not fall into the speciality of the 'patient doctor.'

Medical practitioners, probably rightly so, and except for those who are private practitioners, want to focus on treating and promoting the health of their patients.

They do not want to have to become preoccupied with the funding of the service. The concerns about who is paying and where the money is going to come from.

To be continued!
