JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON WHAT MIGHT BE THE 'TRUE ESSENCE' OF US HUMANS. PART 1.

So, what is it, or what are the things which constitute the core essence of us humans? 

 No, not just that we have life and, at least, for a period of time, are alive and might be able to live our lives abundantly, or in varying degrees of desperation or despair.

 What is our true essence; is it our 'soul', or our 'personality'? When we think of someone, be it someone dear to us,  or a stranger whom we have met or heard of. 


How do we think of them, feel about them? What are the senses which come into play as we contemplate or reflect on a member of our family? A colleague at work or a neighbour? 

 What are the transferences which take place in our thoughts and cogitations? 

 If I can define, cogitate my 'core', my 'essence', then I could probably make some assumption about what, if anything, constitutes the core or essence of us humans, in general.


It seems to me that we could conclude that what is at my 'core', my 'essence' or my epicentre, is my consciousness. My ergosumness. I think, therefore I am. 

 If I cannot think, therefore, or, rather, therefore, I am not. Of course, if, just by virtue of the fact that I think, I therefore am conscious. 

 Does that really mean that animals, including other primates, by virtue of the fact, or assumed fact, that they do not 'think', they are not ergosumised, are not?
