SEX AND ITS VARIOUS AND CONFLICTING ROLES IN SOCIETY. PART 3.

Probably not many of us humans, would take issue with the preposition that, at its core, the primary reason for humans, like probably all other 'mating' species, 'having sex', is to procreate. 

To have human babies, so that our species can keep going and survive. Yes, it is all about the survival of our species. 

For us to abundantly multiple, so that the birth of humans can exceed our demise. 

Whether that demise is due to us slaughtering each other, or to drought and famine, or natural disasters or the plague of diseases. 

This, then, is the foremost purpose of us humans 'having sex.'

And from this basic fact, our ancestors have drawn parallels with and extrapolate the 'act of having sex', with other 'natural events' or phenomena occurring in our perception of space and time. 

Looking around them, both on the Earth and into the upper reaches of the sky. They have contrived to see 'males' and 'females' copulating to bring forth new life. 

Whether it is in the planter digging the soil and planting his seeds and it being watered by the rains, and then bringing forth new crops. Or their cattle rutting.

It is probably not so surprising that our ancestors should have established and developed such a complex ritual over the whole process of human procreation. 

Bringing the gods and religious practices into it and making a mystery and mystique out of a somewhat rustic, some people would say, vulgar and even 'nasty' or beautify process or act.  

Depending on your age, gender, sexuality, experience of it and your perspective.
