Such methods have already been tried in Brazil, and have not been successful, even though they have become historically established aspects of Brazilian society. 

 Indeed, they have been a part of the dysfunctional foundation on which Brazilian society is built.

 The very classes of people whose behaviours and actions are seen as 'what is wrong with Brazilian society', are very much integral parts of Brazil's fabric and persona. 

 You do not cure an infection in your foot, or your arm, or you lung or kidney, by simply amputate them. 


You have to try to find an antibiotic which will cure your/our infection, without resorting the removal of any of your limbs or essential organs. Without leaving you incapacitated.

 Because the health of Brazil need them to remain whole. Brazil needs all of its body to be in a good state of health and functioning effectively.

 The dispossessed and poor people who live in the growing flavelas do not need to be "passified." 

 They are not enemies of Brazil.  Even though the ruling elite, the Bolsonaros of Brazil, have all but dispossessed, disowned, neglected and denied them.

   It is unlikely that things were ever getting better.
