JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE MORAL AND SPIRITUAL PARADOX OF SAUDI ARABIA'S STEWARDSHIP OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD;S LEGACY! PART 1.

One of my most treasured religious reference books, is a copy an English translation of the "Illustrious Quran", Allama Abdullah Yusuf Ali.

It was given to me by a Muslim work colleague, who hailed from Pakistan, and, like myself, was working on public transport buses in a large English city, at the time.

I got the impression from our discussion about Islam, that he was not enarmoured by some of the duties which is required the faithful, be they reluctant followers or of pious Muslims.

Which is probably not surprising, since, like anyone who is born in a particular faith, you become a prisoner to and of it.

And must appear to conform, according to the kinds and level of coercive force which is applied to achieve compliance.

As well as being mindful of the fact that, some Muslims have taken to exclaiming, "Allahu Akbar', when they carry out 'spectacular' military action against their 'enemies', even when the opposition is also Muslims.

I do not know if these people also exclaim, Allahu Akbar, when a new school, hospital, bridge, etc, is built and open.

But it probably hints at the perceived duality of God, with the opposing sides perceiving themselves to be seeing the face of God, and his 'enemy' to be seeing the back of God.

Yes, along with this perception of the greatness of God, one of the most striking thing about my English translation of the Illustrious Quran. Is the fact that each Sura, chapter, is preceded with the preamble - In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

To be continued!
