JUST A THOUGHT - ON RUSSIA'S SHOOTING ITSELF IN ITS FOOT OVER THE SKRIPAL TRAGEDY! PART.3.

Governments should be taking a more balanced and responsible approach to dealing with spies and counter-spies.

After all, Skripal was allowed his freedom as part of a spy exchange between Russia and the West, and Russia should have kept its side of the agreement and not tried to kill Skripal.


Relationships, good relationships, even between countries which have differences between them, are built upon trust between the relevant countries. 

Trust has to be built and maintained, and it usually requires the parties making compromises, sacrifices, and having mutual respect for each other. 

The Skripal outrage does not speak of 'trust' or of 'mutual respect' between Russia and Britain and other countries involved in what appears to Russia's continuing attempt to use crude and callous methods.  

To dispose of its perceived enemies and undermine western political processes, in the hope of achieving strategic national and internation advantages.

The response of the Russian government continue to deny its involvement, to belittle the proffered evidence and marginalise the issue, is not a reasonable and sufficient way of dealing with the matter. 

It makes the Russian government look pathetic. It destroys or risk destroying any gains it has made in international public relations. 

It says to the ordinary and discerning person; 'see, you just cannot trust those Russians.' 

'Because they do not subscribe to the more enlightened human values which which people and governments in the west endeavour to achieve and maintain. 

Of course it is not as 'black and white' as that. There is much less separating the aspirations of the ordinary people of the Russian Federation from those of the ordinary people of West.
