BRITAIN'S BREXIT - IS IT A LESS BRUTAL VERSION OF 'ISLAMIC CALIPHATE'? THE END...

Declaring it to be the 'holy will of the British people', which must be achieved; whatever the cost. 

Even if that means, like the latter-day 'Islamic Caliphate', it coming into existence, but only to be incinerated, like some Icarusian feat. 

The realisation of a perceived and longed for achievement, but on which results in such a high cost that it sours the taste of 'victory.' 

Like one who becomes greatly enticed with the exotic smell of a meal, only to lose their appetite by the time the meal is ready.

And now, is the people of Britain, and, indeed, the European Union, confronted with a most complex and grave dilemma. 

With the United Kingdom having taken the decision to 'make good on the 'holy writ' of their electorate', by throwing themselves into the torrent of the unknown. 

And finding it just as difficult to 'return to the known of the EU', as it seems to be for them to continue to paddle and feel their way into the 'unknown of the outer regions away from it.'

It seems to be a matter of having to decide whether you accept that the initial Brexit 'decision' was not a wise one, and lose some face in declaring that to be the case, but behave responsibly. 


Or whether you follow through on the poor decision resulting from the Brexit referendum, at astronomical cost, just to be able to 'declare your independence and sovereignty.'  

Even though it is more than likely that, further along the road, your are more than likely to find that you will still have to relinquish some of your perceived gains.  

Since cooperation and unity between nations, and not nationalism and separatism, is the best, if not the only way of forward for humans.

The United Kingdom needs to not obstinately cast off its cooperation, its alliance with the European Union and heads for the wilderness. Because there is no other new frontiers out there to be discovered and developed by and enrich it. 

Brexit can now be seen for what it is. It is about breaking and make the United Kingdom broke, with collateral damage being also done to other nations. 

That, surely, cannot be what the Brexiteers wanted, and neither would any competent government choose, willingly, to deliver it to the British people.
