JUST A THOUGHT - ON HOW THINGS ARE BECOMING MORE IMPERMANENT! PART 7.

Gone are the days when Western Europeans, in particular, could accurately speak about the absence of conflict on the European mainland. 

No longer can they do so, following the relatively recent Baltic wars, and the still simmering ethnic and religious tensions in Eastern Europe. 

With the heating up of the soon to be ignited 'Cold War' between the West's Nato and the European Union, and the Russian Federation and their allies, including China. 


With the stresses on the European Union reaching breaking point, and risk recreating the pre-First and Second World War conditions which led to those two wars.

And what of the rest of the world; are we seeing more or less conflicts and wars? 

If there are less wars and conflicts in the rest of the world, that is not how it appears when we look at the African and Asian continents. 

It is not so when we look to the Middle East. Consider it a matter of displacement, if you like.

  So, what are my thoughts about Hamas' unprecedented attack on parts of Israel, which has resulted in hundreds of men, women and children, some of them soldiers, being killed and thousands of Israelis becoming shocked and traumatised as they have probably never experienced before? Diplomacy ought to be the process by which nations, through their governments, establish and maintain mutually beneficial and peaceful relationships between them; Diplomacy is not, like the Gulf Cooperation Council members and their allies, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE states, trying to bully and intimidate Qatar into doing their bidding, by surrendering its sovereignty.  Neither is diplomacy what the American government is doing, in using sanctions to force the governments of states of Iran, Russia and North Korea, into complying with its demands.  About what action they should or should not take in pursuing what they consider to be in the interest of their countries and people.  No, none of this is diplomacy. Rather it is method of force and compulsion, which is not synonymous with principle or practice of diplomacy.  Which is about the art of establishing and maintaining peaceful and mutually beneficial relationships between different countries.
