In the sense of a persistent and rapid deterioration in her intellectual and mental functioning. And of her coming to an acceptance, an acquiescing of any imminent her appointment with her destiny?
Indeed, there are occasions when it seems to me, though I do know it not to be the case.
That, though not living forever, my dear mother might well easily live beyond the several months more which she has to cover to make it to the boundary.
By completing her 100 years on the Earth. Notwithstanding her constant refrain about her persistent aches and pains.
Though there are times when she is clearly experiencing acute frailty, there are also times, as recent as yesterday, when she seems able to display surprising agility.
Even if it can be the unsteady agility of a toddler learning to walk, moving at surprising speed and being saved by his/her own momentum or propulsion, which takes them to the nearest 'support.'
But all of this apparent positivity does not obscure the fact that, my dear mother really is still struggling big time.
With what fate is or she perceives it to be throwing at her in what has to be the eventide of her life.
