SPANISH GRAND PRIX - LEWIS HAMILTON AND TEAM MERCEDES 'TAPPED' BOTTAS. P. 1

Big Congratulation to Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, and Team Mercedes, for having made it another P.1 and P.2 finish at the 2019 Spanish Grand Prix.

Also a Big Congratulation to Max Verstappen and Team Red Bull, for making it to P.3.

Let me begin by asserting my respect and admiration for Valtteri Bottas' pedigree as a consummate racing driver. 

And that this post is intended to be a pleasurable reflection on how the Spanish Grand Prix of 2019 played out. 

We can all recall that Bottas had dominated the Practice sessions and the Qualifying session. 

Having made it to Pole by a probably unsurpassed 0.6 second gap between himself and his team mate. 

As I noted in an earlier post, or should have done. It was as it Vottas drove his Car 77 during the penultimate lap, while Hamilton pushed his. 

Which, of course, resulted in Bottas having achieved a stunning lap, similar, if not better to one which Hamilton achieved last year, to take Pole.

And so it was that, with such a masterful and probably 'Hamiltonesque' performance during the pre-race sessions, we might have expected that Bottas would or stood at least a greater chance than Hamilton.  

To convert his Pole into a end of race win. He had the edge, as it were.  

Even if we had surmised that their comparative performance might or would have incurred Hamilton's displeasure, and acted as an incentiviser or enhanced motivation.
