SPANISH GRAND PRIX - LEWIS HAMILTON AND TEAM MERCEDES 'TAPPED' BOTTAS.

A position which he is not yet ready to give up or have taken from him, even if that time might arrive in the next year or two.

As fate would have it, Hamilton's masterful performance was only threatened by the intervention of the Safety Car during the final 20 or so laps.

Which, while it provided him with a 'free pitstop' to change his tyres, also placed him as some risk of being 'jumped' by his pursuers during the restart of the racing.

And now, as we look forward to the usual challenges of the Monaco Grand Prix, we are able to savour the pleasures of having experienced and exciting and feisty Spanish Grand Prix.

One which resulted in Hamilton not only equalling the recorded consecutive wins by one driver.

But also having set the fastest lap of the race, and establishing the biggest points - 6 points - lead over his nearest rival. His team mate; Valtteri Bottas.

Could this be the point when Hamilton lay down the marker for taking hold of the 2019 Championship?

That we shall see. In the meantime it is better that we should take and enjoy one race at a time. Because, nothing is done until it is finished.
