ITALIAN GRAND PRIX - ALL AT SEA AT MONZA!










It is not the norm for Formula 1 races to hold back and allow the 'back-markers' to take the lead, in the expectation that they will manipulate the powerful but invisible aerodynamic forces which, expertly used, can give their cars invisible wings and propel greatly. 

That, however, was apparently the consensus of most, if not all the drivers taking part in Q3 of the final stage of the preparations for today's, Sunday's 2019 Italian Grand Prix at Monza. 

Not for love, money or fame, or Pole, it seems, could any of the drivers be motivated or encouraged to take the lead in the final lap of Q.3 and strive to get Pole. 




And so it was that they all got caught out by missing the boat, as it were, and ending the Qualifying session with a dreadful splutter, and allow Charles Leclerc to take Pole by default, having taken provisional Pole with his penultimate lap. 

With Team Mercedes and their drivers, Hamilton and Bottas having in similar fashion, acquired P.2 and P.3 positions.

So, just as unusually, I will forgo the 'big congratulation' for the Podiumites on this occasion. 

And, like others, most likely, hope that todays Grand Prix will not fall to the terrible and disappointing depths to which Q.3 had descended.  




And that the racers will make amends and deliver an exceptionally exciting and professional performance.

That the racers will, indeed, take the powerful aerodynamic forces which are said to inhabit the Monza Circuit, by the horns, as it were.  

And skilfully and competently use them to their advantages to deliver sterling performances.
