It is just not self-evident as to why the concept and practice of 'democracy.' 

Should become so sanctified that it is given priority over whether of not the incumbent government is serving the best interests of most of the people, at any given time. 

As to why it, 'democracy', should not be evaluated, measured and amended, on the basis of the results of practising it. 

Especially as, is said to be the case, the 'word', the 'theory', does not live up to the claims which have been made of it, and 'action really speaks louder than the word, or theory.'


For those of us for whom positive outcomes are weighted more heavily than arguments about 'democracy.' 

It is better to have an effective government governing a nation, with a measure of 'democracy' and pragmatism.  

Than it is to have and ineffective government trying to govern it, with the model of 'democracy' approved by the West.

After all, would the people be more understanding, and less frustrated, angry and hostile towards their governments, about their plight, if they knew that the government is 'truly democratic?
