Which would require more transparency and accountability. But that is not a good enough reason for not pursuing this option. 


After all, if viable and sustainable solutions cannot be found and implemented, within a relatively short period of time. 

Then the period of sustainable human, and other species of life, that find our rapidly increasing toxic ecosystem incompatible with healthy living, become shorter than it might have been. 

So, life might indeed continue after us humans have self-exterminate our species, and, indeed, the Earth might well partially recover and continue as the evolutionary breeding ground for other and some current forms of life. 

How ironic it is that the extermination, self-or-other, of our human species.  

Might become the only effective solution to Planet, Earth recovering and remaining more sustainable as the only known inhabitable Planet in our Universe and others? 

Well, considered in the scheme of the bigger picture, we should not see that as probably too high a price to pay, as evolution continues to evolve. 

The dinosaurs have gone, so why should our human species not also pass on in our turn; especially as we are probably the most destructive of all species the Earth has had the displeasure of hosting?

After all, this might also be the break that Planet Earth needs to evolve new life-forms to nurture and develop into becoming intelligent and sentient beings. 

At certain levels, us humans are no better or inherently superior than other animal species.

Probably our biggest advantage over other animal species, has been our ability to walk on two feet, have two hands to manipulate our environment, and the evolution of a big brain to scheme and plot our dominance over ourselves and other species.
