And the extent to which we have succeeded in assimilating them into our subsequent experiences and move on with our lives.'


He was also guided by a pragmatic and logical frame of mind. At least, at crunch times. 

It was a pragmatism which would see him surviving the required amount of years he had to serve in prison. 





His sentence was still a massive shock, for everybody, including himself, as his solicitor, on the day of the sentencing, had told his parents that they expected him to get about 3 years. 

But that, as it transpired, was before the probation officer preparing his pre-sentencing report, which was also presented to the court on the morning of the sentencing, which concluded that Kazaliwa was assessed as being at high risk of re-offending. 

Years later, after Kazaliwa had served the incarceration element of his sentence and would be well on his way to serving the community or 'on-sentence' element.
