Like the tide coming in and going out, the weight of these objects, and, in the case of a political party forming a government, the strength of the supporting electorate, and/or the regime's ruling elites ability to manipulate the electorate. 

Will, at different times, determine the tendency of the dominant party/ies forming the current ruling administration.

So, in short, it is not surprising that, probably prior to Donald Trump's unexpected and, consequently, shocking election as the President of the United States.  


The periodic changing of the guard between the ruling 'trinity' of, the 'leftists, the centralists, and the rightists guards.'  

Of the political establishments of the 'liberal democracies' in Europe, the US and the Americas, has been a normal and predictable occurrence. 

It has become an expected cyclical event, with the dis-empowered regime returning to the backbenches to fight a rear-guard action against the in-coming government.
