AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX - AN UNLIKELY RACE AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALEX ALBON! PART 1

The Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring Circuit was the first Formula 1 race of 2020, and was won by Team Mercedes and their Driver, Valtteri Bottas.  

Who, despite the couple of Safety Car interventions, had no difficulties in converting his Pole position from Saturday into a much desired and deserved win on Sunday. 

For Lewis Hamilton, however, the gods had something quite different in store. 

He arrived at the circuit on Sunday to be greeted with the disappointing news that he had been demoted from his P.2 Qualifying position to P.4. 

As he had, belatedly, been found to have  infringed one of the rules during Saturday's Qualifying session.




Soul destroying and precipitative  as that news might have been to Hamilton and Team Mercedes. There was worse to follow during the race. As fate would deliver the great racer another two proverbial 'gut-wrenching' blows.

The first of these which would see, irrespective of whether or which driver would be deemed to be at fault and to what degree.  Hamilton and Albon coming into an unwelcomed vehicular embrace between their cars.  

As Alex Albon, probably somewhat riskily but certainly not recklessly tried to and nearly executed an overtake of Lewis on the outside of a tight corner during the race.
