Then, like a woman or man needing to be re-impassioned, to be wooed and emotionally inflamed, we need time for this process to take place. 

Because, after all, we are but human, and not at all like the turbo and super-charged engines of Formula 1 cars.

As we watch the beginning of the preparations for today's Austrian Grand Prix, with the first 3 Practice Sessions and Saturday's Qualifying, we can begin to aspire and become cautiously optimistic again. 

Even though, just as how we do not know how the battle against Covid-19 will pans out by the end of the year, so do we not know how the shortened and contrived 2020 Formula 1 Season will end. 



We now know that Team Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas, by virtue of a spectacular penultimate lap in Q3, had done enough to achieve Pole position in the the first Grand Prix of the 2020 Season. 

While his team mate, Lewis Hamilton, with a lest than perfect final lap, was not able to capitalise on Bottas' much less than perfect final lap. While Red Bull's Max Verstappen did enough to complete the Podium line up for today's race.

So, who will be the winner of the first, and very late Formula 1 Grand Prix today?

For that, we shall have to employ the patience which we have all had to resort to, under the rule of Covid-19, and wait and see which driver and team will be the first, the second and third to greet the Checkered Flag.

Diplomacy ought to be the process by which nations, through their governments, establish and maintain mutually beneficial and peaceful relationships between them; Diplomacy is not, like the Gulf Cooperation Council members and their allies, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE states, trying to bully and intimidate Qatar into doing their bidding, by surrendering its sovereignty.  Neither is diplomacy what the American government is doing, in using sanctions to force the governments of states of Iran, Russia and North Korea, into complying with its demands.  About what action they should or should not take in pursuing what they consider to be in the interest of their countries and people.  No, none of this is diplomacy. Rather it is method of force and compulsion, which is not synonymous with principle or practice of diplomacy.  Which is about the art of establishing and maintaining peaceful and mutually beneficial relationships between different countries.
