And how it is better for us to first doubt and hold ourselves responsible, before we venture to suspect and accuse other.

But for now, I am hoping that my dear mother has turned a corner, as it were, and that these series of incidents, me finding things she has lost, misplaced, and blamed her carer for, will at least lessen her tendency to do so. 

Even for a reasonable period of time. One thing is now certain; namely that I have the credibility to say to my dear mother, when she complains of her things being taken. 

I can say, Mama, do you remember when you could not find your this and that, and you said it was taken by ...., and then I found it for you?




Ah, but it does not work quite like that, as I have since found out. Why? 

Because, for it to work that way, it would require the person to of sound mind, at the time, it would appear. 

Which might explain why my dear mother still has a predilection to still get confused to the point of thinking nothing of believing that her carer enters her home after she finishes her final visit for the day. 

And why she seems to genuinely thing that someone opens her bedroom door each night and ruffled through her things without waking her up.

   It is unlikely that things were ever getting better.
