That of having to accept that his departure from the sports is now more likely than unlikely. 

They/we, in order to adjust to this eventuality and minimise the adverse psychological impact, must move into anticipatory mode. 

We must begin to look beyond watching Lewis Hamilton in Formula 1 grand prix.  

And contemplate transferring our affections and our loyalty to other racers, or turn away from it, if we cannot successfully do so.




It is very unfortunate that Hamilton has failed to give his fans any reassurance or confirmation about his intentions.  

And, as such, it is reasonable that we/they should be thinking the worse, and beginning to prepare for it.

Much greater is the disappointment from the failures of those from who we expect much. 

Of course, it could also be our failure, if we happen to have expected more than our 'idol' or 'champion' was able, capable and/or willing to deliver.
