JUST A THOUGHT ON - 'SURVIVING SOCIAL WORK. PART 7.

So, how conducive is the the environment in which social workers operate, to avoid tragedies occurring?

What kind of environment do they operate in? One of the core principles of providing protection for the the vulnerable and at risk child and family.

Is that of building and maintaining a supportive multi-agency and multi-discipline network around them. But, is this something which envelopes the social worker and the social services industry as well?

Is the social work industry founded on the principle of somebody, some other system having the social worker's back, as it were?

Is it being supported by the principle and culture of, 'you look after the interests and welfare of vulnerable and at risk children, individuals and families.

And 'we will safeguard your back and provide you with the resources and support you need to do a competent job'?

So as to provide relevant support for parents and other carers who need such support to meet their own and thier children's needs, and keep them safe.

Working together in this kind of concentric circular system, with the child/ren at its core, enveloped by the parents/carers, extended family, informal network, and statutory agencies.

Would require all the people in it, to be being accorded the level and kind of  relevant support their role warrant them to have.

In order for them to appropriately meet their particular responsibility to provide identified support to identified person/s in the families support system.

To be continued!
