MONACO GRAND PRIX : TOO MUCH FOR MERCEDES, SO FERRARIRI AND RED BULL SHOWED THE WAY

A Very Big Congratulations to Team Ferrari and Charles Leclerc, and to Red Bull and Max Verstappen, and Team Mercedes and Valtteri Bottas, for having made it to the Qualifying Podium during the Qualifying session of the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix

If we needed another reminder that it is not a good strategy to leave the best till last, Charles Leclerc's penultimate lap on Saturday spoke deafeningly to us.

Yes, it was terribly ironic that Charles, having laid down the provisional Poleic place in his second to last lap, should have then brought the proceedings of the Qualifying session to a close, by crashing - fortunately, safely - his car in the last lap.

Thereby - unfortunately - depriving the other races, including Verstappen, Bottas, Hamilton and others, of the chance to displace him from his perch.

Or, improving them of the opportunity to improve their positions, as Hamilton for example, would have relished.

It is a hard person who would not acknowledge the hazards of practicing, qualifying and racing on the Monaco circuit, and not be awed by the racers who put themselves on the line in doing so.

Formula 1 racing demands racers of courage with single-minded, total confidence in their driving and their cars and teams.

Only when this confidence is at its highest in these three elements, is a racer able to perform safely and at his best.

The Monaco circuit, like that of Baku, demands that its racers confidence is at its optimum.

This is why Team Ferrari and Leclerc, Team Red Bull, and, in the case of Bottas, Team Mercedes, were able to make it to P.1., P.2., and P.3.; respectively.

It has not been Hamilton's weekend, or, Thursday and Saturday - as we still have to await seeing how fate transpires today - at Monaco.

The Great Racer, his Car and Team Mercedes have not been able to perform as One.

And, as such, have not been able to enter the Zone of  Tranquillity, which is required for optimum performance and results

While taking nothing away from the Leclerc, Verstappen and Bottas, Race Day is the climatic day, so let us enjoy it and await the outcome of this second opportunity for glory.

What we do know is that whoever wins the Monaco Grand Prix, with or without the assistance of the fate and/or the intervention of the gods. Will have done so on merits.
