PORTUGUESE GRAND PRIX - ANOTHER HAMILTONESQUE FINISH. AS LEWIS, MAX AND VALTTERI JOINED BATTLE. PART 1.

 

And so it was during Saturday's Qualifying session before the Portuguese Grand Prix on Sunday 2nd May 2021.

That the Inimitable Lewis Hamilton, was colloquially 'robbed' of making it his 100th Pole positions of his so far unmatched Formula 1 career, by no other than his team mate, Valtteri Bottas.

It was only by 7/000 of a second, we are told, but it was still enough, more than enough to delay Lewis' achieving this now yet to be achieved accolade.

Yes, it was a disappointment for the great racer, and for all of us wish to share his joy in setting another remarkable record.

But Lewis did not get into any tantrum about having his journey slowed, delayed, because he is now more than confident in his ability to get the job done, and have it done in good time.

But, the great racer thought, quietly, and without making any declaration. Valtteri, he said to himself, I congratulate you on taking Pole, today, my man.

You drove better than I did when it counted, and I made mistakes for which it is only fair that their should be a price to be paid.

After all, Valtteri, if there is no consequence for our failures, then how shall we learn to up our game and put in the performances which are needed to make it to Pole and win Grand Prix?

How indeed. You drove better than I did and it is only fair that you should be rewarded and that I should be, on this occasion.

Left to inherit the wind, as it were, by having to begin the race on the 'dirty side' of the Circuit.

But you know what, Valtteri, I am still going to punish your ass; not because you did not deserve to be on Pole in Q3, but because, well, man, I think you were damn cheeky.
