SPANISH GRAND PRIX QUALIFYING - HAMILTON 'THE POLEIST' MAKES IT HIS 0NE HUNDREDTH POLE!!!!!!! THE END......

 

What was seemingly unquestionable, is that Max Verstappen, unless there was some drastic improvement in how Hamilton and ~Bottas were traversing the Circuit, should be taking Pole position.

However, it was not to be; not on this occasion, because Hamilton was to put in the required pacey record-setting performance he needed to win his One Hundredth (100th)  Formula 1 Pole position.

And just to add to uncertainty, to the anticipation. Just to prove the adage that, you should not leave your best until last, unless you are confident or know that your opponents will not better your best.' 

Hamilton actually achieved his Pole position in the penultimate lap of Q.3. 

Because he did not improved on it in his final lap, but, as Verstappen also failed, by the miniscule margin of 0.03 second, to surpass Hamilton's penultimate, it was job done by Hamilton. 

So, once again, Lewis 'The Poleist' Hamilton, has seemingly converted apparent 'defeat' into victory, by depriving Max.

How did he do it? Well, according to Hamilton, he and Team Mercedes have spent much of the Qualifying session experimenting to achieve that winning lap. 

It was that close, the tentative and, yes, uncertain. But when something is fated to happen, it cannot be deflected by humans.

 It is probably very difficult to truly or accurately evaluate the magnitude of Lewis 'The Poleist' Hamilton's achievement in amassing 100 Pole positions. 

As to whether it shall ever be matched or exceeded, except by 'The Poleist' himself, in the future of Formula 1 racing, is both debatable and probably unlikely. 

Not least because of the unlikelihood of the combination of factors involved.  Including the the timing of the Hamilton-Mercedes collaboration and their particular genius setting the Formula 1 world ablaze. 

But also because of the advances which all the Formula 1 teams will be making, which should increase the competition between them and decrease past and current performance gaps.

And now to Sunday's Grand Prix, we look, contemplating what our band of 20 intrepid races, and the gods, have in store for us.
