Similarly, as Hamilton quickly regained his composure and maintain his now P.2 position in the race, and went after Verstappen and kept him within a 1-2 second window. 

Although it seemed that Hamilton would have overtaken Verstappen in due course, we cannot know for certain if he would have done so.

But this was not to be a race to be decided by the casting of bones. 

Instead, it was one which would be determined by the team applying the best race strategy, and the driver who could complement that strategy with the masterly drive it required to convert it into a winning one.

And so it was that, having been hovering within DRS range for laps after laps, but not having, at this point, been in a position to make an overtake attempt on Max, Team Mercedes, suddenly but at the right time, called on Hamilton to "box, box." 

Hamilton was to later commented, during the post-race interviews, on how he was "conflicted" in deciding whether to box or continue after Max. 

Yes, he cannot have remained 'conflicted' for long, as he would have missed the box-ing window. 

The trust between Team and racer prevailed, and Hamilton came into the Pit and had a quicker tyre change than Max, and the rest has now become part of his and Formula 1's on-going racing history. 

It had been predicted that he would have caught up with Max in the final lap of the 66 laps race. 

However, as it transpired, he overtook Max with about 7 laps to go, and passed the Checkered Flag 16 plus seconds ahead of Max, to make it his 98 Formula 1 win.

And what might Lewis 'The Poleist' Hamilton have said to Max Verstappen, after the race?
