BRITISH GRAND PRIX - MIXED FORTUNES AS VERSTAPPEN CRASHED OUT AND HAMILTON PREVAILED! ! ! PART 2.

 

They raced as it two competing demons had possessed them, with neither man willing to give an inch or centimetre, without insisting on reclaiming double what the had had to concede at the next available opportunity. 

It was one of those occasions when survival seemed precarious, but at the same time, offered commensurate spoils. 

Mind you, this was not a situation in which either Lewis or Max, could have guaranteed that any coming together of their mean machines would not have violently removed both of them from the race.  

This, I believe, mean that we can surmise that, any coming together, would most probably be accidental, even if avoidable, but not intentional.  

Indeed, Mercedes has since disclosed that that, had the race not been Red Flagged, Hamilton would have had to DNF, as his car would not have been sufficiently repairable.

Be that as it may, the outcome of the spectacular collision was that Max's race ended very dramatically, and him having to be given evaluatory medical attention. 

While Lewis' continued, after the restart, with him trailing and pursuing Charles Leclerc, before over-taking him a couple of laps before the end of it, (at 'Max's Corner.') and becoming the first racer to greet the Checkered Flag. 

And so added his 8th win to his already probably unsurpassable 7 wins at Silverstone. 

Quite a feat, and one which was achieved in most controversially, as Inspector Hercule  Poirot, might has said, in his own inimitable formulation.

The response to Hamilton's earlier improbable looking victory, depended on whether you were or are an 'Hamiltonite' or a 'Verstappenite.' 

Whether you are or were with Team Mercedes or Team Red Bull. Whether you are Toto or Christian Horner.
