And so it was that the rain and its impact on the other drivers created driving conditions which got the better of Bottas' management of them. 

Leading to him misjudging his breaking distance and striking the car in front of him, which then created a carnage of racing cars, with Bottas being knocked out of the race, and Verstappen sustaining major bodywork damage.

The irrational and conspiracy theorists would be emotionally driven to argue that Team Mercedes, in the form of Valtteri Bottas. 

Had deliberately precipitated carnage at the start of the race, in order to increase Hamilton's chances of winning the race. 

And yet, although Formula 1 racers are well-known for their fearless and intrepid racing, they have never been know for having kamikaze tendencies. 

A racer cannot win a race by causing havoc and taking out his and others cars. 




Neither can he advantaged his team by doing so. So, why would Bottas engage in what would have been a very reckless act? 

When nobody, included Bottas, could have predicted the overall impact of what his failure to better negotiate the unfortunate circumstances which he was required to manage?  

with the intention of aiding his team mate, but at the cost of  putting himself out of the race? 

Why would Team Mercedes deliberately sacrifice one of their drivers at the very beginning of the race, in the hope of increasing the chances of their other driver, Hamilton, winning the race, when anything could happen during the following laps?

No; none of the conspiracy theories make any sense. It was just coincidence that it was another Team Mercedes car and racer who precipitated this chaos. 

It was something which had been decreed by the gods, if you will, and not something which had been done deliberately and/or spitefully by Team Mercedes and/or Valtteri Bottas. Correct; blame it on the gods, and then move onto the next race, after the Summer break.
