ITALIAN GRAND PRIX - RARE WIN FOR RICCIARDO AND MCLAREN, AS HAMILTON AND VERSTAPPEN CAME TO GRIEF!! FINIS..

Of course, it is not just a matter of having a crash, but also about lives and limbs being placed at risk.

As we can see from the likelihood that Hamilton, but for the protection of his car's canopy, could have been killed or suffered major life-changing traumas during the accident.

Contemplation of which was what could temper his and and Max's frustration, disappointment, and probably anger at being taken out of the race; irrespective of who was at fault or responsible for precipitating it.

Yes, it was this which is able to put into proper perspective the disappointment of the watching audience, for whatever expectations and hopes we had for either racer winning.

After all, if a racer had to suffer the disappointment of having a DNF, having one at the beginning or near the end of the race can be particularly tough.

This spectacular take-out, after careful examination of the available information, by the Race Stewards, and irrespective of the conclusions of the pundits.

Was adjudged by the former to have been brought about by the actions of Max Verstappen.

Who was, after the race, given a 3 place Grid penalty.

So, the outcome of Monza has not progressed the case of either of the main contenders for the 2021 Championship, which means that all eyes and thoughts are now focused on the next Grand Prix.

The Russian Grand Prix, to see if the impasse will be broken, and, if so, in whose favour.

In trying to understand adjust to the fraught situation between Hamilton and Verstappen, I find myself reflecting on the rocky period of the racing relationship between Hamilton and Vettel.

Of how their rivalry seemed to have overflowed from the racing circuit onto their personal lives.

But how, over a period of time they had been able to pulled things back and allow their common humanity to shine through their media/social media contorted and distorted public persona.

Could the same transformation occurs in the troubled relationship between Hamilton and Verstappen?

It could do, but it seems to be a more uphill challenge, as the age difference between them is bigger than between Hamilton and Vettel.

As is the fact that, with Hamilton having only another 1 or 2 years as a Formula 1 racer, there is less much less time to bridge the divide between them.

We just have to see how it pans out, and enjoy each race or parts therof, as they unfold, and appreciate the fact that the world is not perfect, and that eggs do get broken to make omelette.

That the ground on which today's heroes and giants stand, is being sought by those who seek to be tomorrow's heroes and giants. This is the way of the world.

But for now, let all eyes and all thoughts be on Sochi for the Russian Grand Prix, as we can only live a day, one race at a time.
