IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 90.

 

This period of Kazaliwa's life was to see him making progress both in accepting, however reluctantly, parts of 'the system', as well as rejecting some of the pressures to conform.

It was when Kazaliwa decided that he did not want to work for anybody doing the proverbial 9 to 5 job.

So, he went into researching, exploring and setting up his own online business.

His first being that of creating advertising campaigns for businesses. This he did in collaboration with someone involved in graphics designing.

Kazaliwa worked hard at it, doing more than the proverbial 9 to 5, but, unfortunately, the business failed to make any headway.

It was also a period of time which saw Kazaliwa making the move towards acquiring his own accommodation.

In doing so, he relented and accepted the necessity of registering for any benefits for which he was eligible.

And so it was that on a certain day, Kazaliwa was successful in renting his first independent accommodation.

This was constituted a room in a multi-occupation house, with a shared kitchen, shower room and toilet.

With the assistance of his parents, Kazaliwa had his personal belongings moved from his parents' home, utensils and food bought, and moved in. 

This was, of course, after Mfanyazaki and Nzuri had helped him to clean the room and the kitchen and personalised it. 

Looking back on that episode, Mfanyazaki would probably not be able to recall who might have been more relieved and/or excited about the move. 

Was it he and his wife, Nzuri, who were to be relieved of the 24/7 stress, felt or subconscious, of being their son's involuntary guardian and protector? 

Relieved of the pressure of constantly, even if at different levels of consciousness, wondering if he was alright? If he was keeping control of his temper and not getting into trouble?
