UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX - VERSTAPPEN 'THE UNCATCHABLE' PIPPED HAMILTON 'THE GIVE IT ALL' TO MAKE IT P.1 AND P.2. PART 1.

 

A Very Big Congratulations to Team Red Bull and Max Verstappen, and Team Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, and Team Red Bull and Sergio Perez, for making it to P.1, P.2, and P.3 respectively, at the 2021 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix!!

And now, having paid homage to these two front contenders for the both the 2021 Drivers Championship, and the Constructors Championship, what am I going to say about the race?

Well, it certainly was a very exciting and fascinating race. One which thrilled us with Hamilton having benefitted from a great start of the Grid, to overtake Max, while he held off Sergio Perez, to take the lead and led the race for the first dozen or so laps. 

And, we were also intrigued by the strategy of Red Bull, in pitting Max earlier than might have reasonably been expected.  

But with the desired outcome of enabling their Star to regain the lead from the Team Mercedes' Star, when it most mattered. 

Because, as it turned out, when Team Mercedes decided on the strategy of pitting Hamilton after Max, for the last of his two stops, although they did not know, or might have known it. 

That was to be the final act of what was to turn out to be the weaker of the two leading strategies. 

It transpired that, although it was considered not only viable, but likely that Hamilton would have been able to chase down and probably overtook Verstappen during the last 7 or 6 laps of the Grand Prix. 

That was simply not to be. In the end, Hamilton did not have either the pace nor sufficient remaining laps to really test out his and Max's cars' endurance. 

The harder Hamilton pushed, the more Max was able to coax out of his mean machine, Car 33.
