AN ENIGMATIC AND POIGNANT JOURNEY AROUND MY AGEING AND EVOLVING MOTHER! PART 138.

 

Anyway, I tried to determine whether my dear mother was able to follow what I had read her, by asking her which prophet I was reading about. 

She was not able, or rather, did not give me sufficient information to convince me that she understood it enough to retain any sense from it. 

The impression I get, when I reflect upon my

cognitive or intellectual interactions, is that she is now predominantly occupying a state of passivity or passive participation. She will rarely initiate taking or discussions. 

It is as if she never has anything to say. She looks but says little of her own volition, and is not much assisted by prompts and encouragement.

She has the power of speech, but her ability, her capacity to carry out, to perform the cognitive tasks which must be carried out. 

In order for her to construct and transmit information in a logical order, have declined and are clearly still declining. 

All of which leaves my dear mother, probably more often than not, looking the part of a forlorn traveller. 

I could ask her what she looks for in any given day, but I suspect that she would find the question challenging. 

I could ask her what is or was her hope for any given day, but I would probably confused her by asking her and try trying to explain to her, in a way that she could understand, what I mean by it. 

For whatever reasons, even when things are broken down for my dear mother, she still oftentimes finds it difficult to understand what is being asked of her. 

Trying to simply things sometimes can result in it being made seemingly more difficult.

And now, even more than ever, there are signs that my dear mother is at times not perceiving or understanding what she is seeing.
