JUST CONTEMPLATING ON - 'THE THING ABOUT SEEKING TO PROLONG HUMAN LIFE, IS.....? PART 1.

Yes, the first 'thing about seeking to prolong human life, is, 'why'? Why should anybody be seeking to prolong our lives? 

Is seems accurate to state with a high degree of certainty, that, never has there been a time in history of our species, when our kind was as plentiful on the Earth, as we are now. 

All 7.9 billion of us, and still counting. There is more than twice of us living now in 2021, than there were in 1960, only 50 years ago. 

If our species were to continue breeding, procreating at this unsustainable rate, by the end of this century, by 2200, there could be 14-16 billion humans living on the Earth at any one time; all things being equal. 

Of course, with the Climate Change Crisis, it is most probable that all things will most likely not be equal.

To what purpose would the endeavour to prolong human life be intended;  considering the travail of the Earth and its resources, in trying to sustain the existing number of humans and other primates, in the first instance?

I mean, 'the thing about enabling more humans to live longer, should be considered in costs/benefits terms. Questions need to be asked about what would be the benefit of people, of us living longer? 

Questions need to be asked about who are the people who would benefit most or more; would it be the current 'privileged classes', for instance? 

would it be the 'less privileged classes' who are now struggling to make ends meets? 

Let us make the assumption that it would be the latter. Would it really make good sense to prolong the lives of people on the edge, as it were, so as to prolong their suffering? 

Would having more time to struggle in the attempt to live better, make good sense in the proverbial overall?
