JUST A THOUGHT - ON CLIMATE CHANGE. IT WILL NOT GO AWAY, BUT NEITHER WILL IT BE SHOUTED AWAY!! PART 1.

'The Earth will not be 'saved' from degradation during the life-time of any generation now living. 

Humans, however, could survive - because it is mostly about us, as left to itself, the Earth will have time to recover - by a globally planned, resourced, integrated and implemented strategy, with an appropriate timescale.'

So, consider this, that people should feel the need to have to shout and scream, in their desperate attempts to get others to listen to what they have to say. 

And yet, it is not the case that we will listen because of the magnitude or decibels of their thunderous voices, or the desperation of the tone of their voices. 

No, we might listen because they have startled us, but listening and hearing is only two parts of the process of communication and communicating. 




We might give our attention to hearing what is being said to us, but that is not the same as doing anything about what we hear. 

We will only do something about it, though not necessarily what the communicants want us to do, if we consider it important that we should do something about it. 

Yes, we will allow ourselves to be moved to action, by whether we are forced to do so, by others who have authority over us. 

And/or if our assessment is that we are going to be significantly impacted, negatively or positively, by what is being asked of us. 

And what of the timing of our response, of our action? 

Well, how urgently we act, will be influenced, if not determined by our assessment of the impact of the feared or welcomed event upon us.

And so it is with some of the vociferous and shrill clarion calls about Climate Change, with seemingly everybody of a lot of people becoming 'Climate Change Warriors' of 'Climate Change Advocates.'

Diplomacy ought to be the process by which nations, through their governments, establish and maintain mutually beneficial and peaceful relationships between them; Diplomacy is not, like the Gulf Cooperation Council members and their allies, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE states, trying to bully and intimidate Qatar into doing their bidding, by surrendering its sovereignty.  Neither is diplomacy what the American government is doing, in using sanctions to force the governments of states of Iran, Russia and North Korea, into complying with its demands.  About what action they should or should not take in pursuing what they consider to be in the interest of their countries and people.  No, none of this is diplomacy. Rather it is method of force and compulsion, which is not synonymous with principle or practice of diplomacy.  Which is about the art of establishing and maintaining peaceful and mutually beneficial relationships between different countries.
