THE THE PHYSICAL ENDING OF AN ENIGMATIC AND POIGNANT JOURNEY AROUND MY AGEING AND EVOLVING MOTHER! PART 156.

 

Looked at from a philosophical perspective, I am able to contemplate my dear mother's passing and pending proverbial 'putting to rest', from the rather consoling position of knowing this. 

That, although her physical body is now being subjected to destruction by time, she is impervious to any hurt or pain. 

Even as I, probably somewhat rudely as it were, am made more acutely aware of the need, the urgency to live my own life and endeavour to enjoy it. While I, like others amongst the living, await our turn to go over the edge.

But for now, let us focus on the unfinished affairs of my dear and now departed mother, as her family, with the indispensable assistance of others, make the necessary arrangements for 'sending her off.' 

Not for her the spectacular and fiery send off a Viking notary, as those of us who have seen The Vikings, for instance, which is a film which I believed my dear mother would have seen and most probably enjoyed. 

For though it really is the case that my dear mother is worthy of and does merit a Big Send Off, having lived to become a member of the much celebrated Centenarian Plus Club. 

She has been impacted, as it were, by the irony that, in living for as long as she has had to live to become a Centenarian. 

My dear mother has outlived many of the people, relatives and friends, who would have been giving her her sending off, have preceded her in passing. Going over the abyss.

So the arrangements for placing my dear mother into her final resting place will not be grand. They will include the usual church service, the burial in the local cemetery, and the after burial reception. 

I will complete final recorded post on this long journey with my dear mother after her burial.
