IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 92.

Thus he had to access offices such as the Job Centre and Housing Benefits Office.

Yes, in effect, Kazaliwa, if he is going to make it to standing on his own two feet, as it were, had to be sufficiently pragmatic, and have an accommodation with, and deal with 'Babylon', however reluctantly.

As not to acknowledge the need for such a strategy and tactic could and can only lead him into what could prove have been a series of avoidable detours, cul de sac and going around in circles.

And so it was, that Kazaliwa made his first attempt at living on his own and weathering the challenges which his endeavour threw up.

Challenges such managing and coping with keeping your room tidy and healthy, especially in cold winter nights and days.

Challenges such contending with a kitchen, toilet and shower which was shared by multi-occupants.

Challenges such as getting rid of the communal rubbish. Challenges such as coping with other tenants who refuse to 'pull their weight', as it were, and share the responsibility for carrying out the communal duties.

Which are necessary for the reasonable or smooth running of a multi-occupancy house. Challenges such as getting on with your landlord.

Kazaliwa, though not without some expected and some reasonable mishaps, maintained his tenancy until the landlord decided to sell the house.

But, within a matter of several weeks, the necessary work would be done by him and his parents to get him into his second rented accommodation, and bring to an end his temporary stay with Nzuri and  Mfanyazaki.

To be continued!
