JUST PHILOSOPHISING ON - RUSSIA'S INVASION OF AND ATTEMPT TO SUBJUGATE UKRAINE AND ITS PEOPLE. PART 1.

So, context might not be everything, but it does counts for alot. 

There is little or no point in us who are living in today's 21st Century. Thinking and/or behaving as if we are or were living in the 1st CE,( Common Era or Before Christ). 

Even though the believers in the Abrahamic religions would have all of us who do not share their faiths and beliefs, submitting ourselves to a purported divine worldview or weltanschauung which would require us insult or suspend our critical faculties.

Or at anytime during the centuries of hellish man-inflicted suffering that humanity has had to suffer and endure before and since, say upto World War Two. 

Yes, I acknowledge that the West's invasion of Iraq, of Syria and of Libya were truly hellish for the people who were subjected to the terrible deaths and destruction which were thrown on them. 

But those terrible wars, as far as the 'outside world' was concerned, and outside of the remit of the social media and the targeted dissemination of carefully designed and constructed 'news' from the media moguls. Were somewhat of 'a distant echo.  




I guess that the uninvolved and uninterested world and humanity, it was sufficient for people to simply continue with their/our daily lives. 

We, the people, were sad, but we were not consumed with with the mentality which wars require to be fought 'successfully.' 

The degree of orchestrated and manufactured hatred, lack of empathy, inter-ethnic tensions and conflict were not there. 

The dominant values which most of us were striving towards, if not always living by, were those of civility, peaceful living, human rights, international cooperation, achieving Climate Change objectives and the pursuit of individual happiness.

There has been, or we have come to believe that the Age of Indiscriminate Warfare has ended. 

That we have become mature and civilized humans who eschew warfare and the wanton killing and destruction of our fellow human and the environment which is sustaining us. 

That we do not want anymore 'Alexander the Great', no more Attila, no more Genghis khan, no more Conquistadors, no more King Leopold, no more Oliver Cromwell, no more Hitler, et al, et.

Diplomacy ought to be the process by which nations, through their governments, establish and maintain mutually beneficial and peaceful relationships between them; Diplomacy is not, like the Gulf Cooperation Council members and their allies, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE states, trying to bully and intimidate Qatar into doing their bidding, by surrendering its sovereignty.  Neither is diplomacy what the American government is doing, in using sanctions to force the governments of states of Iran, Russia and North Korea, into complying with its demands.  About what action they should or should not take in pursuing what they consider to be in the interest of their countries and people.  No, none of this is diplomacy. Rather it is method of force and compulsion, which is not synonymous with principle or practice of diplomacy.  Which is about the art of establishing and maintaining peaceful and mutually beneficial relationships between different countries.
