JUST PHILOSOPHISING ON - RUSSIA'S INVASION OF AND ATTEMPT TO SUBJUGATE UKRAINE AND ITS PEOPLE. PART 6.

And so it is, that we do argue that we need to defend ourselves, but are constrained to attempt to do so by destroying the lives of others; even as they do contend that they must kill us and win the war in order to protect themselves from us.

So it is that, in order to be able to kill and maim us, they must make of us their enemies, even as we, in considering how they have attacked and are attacking us, must psyche up ourselves and perceive of them as our enemies.

Whether or not we are really able to convince ourselves that a people whom just yesterday were our friends, and/or just our neighbours, are now our enemies whom we must hate in order to kill them or just get used to killing our friends.

So it is that, we, who do consider ourselves to be sane and more rational that our friends/'former friends' who want to destroy us over our politics and vision of the future and theirs.

Must also adopt seemingly similar insanity and skewed rationality in defending or seeking to defend ourselves.

By taking actions which are inimical, at odds with the society and values which we have done so much to promote, to build and aspire towards.

So it is that we have had or been made to sacrifice what we, humans, have spent decades building, and begin again.

To start rebuilding the lost trust, the shattered lives, the broken homes and societal infrastructures, the begin again to have and nurture dreams, as a cold and pernicious reality flows over us.

Of course this is a particularly challenging process; considering that our apparently 'normal'  tendency to respond to the unusual, to the instinctive and perceived threat to our safety, our survival, on an 'emotional level'.

Which conflicts or can conflict with how we would have responded, had we had or opted to spend a bit more time considering how best to respond to the threat or imminent danger which confront us.

One way of understanding this kind of conflicted response dilemma, would be to compare it to a prey, whether human or other kind of animal, jumping into the nearest river or hole, in order to escape a predator.

To be continued!
