JUST PHILOSOPHISING ON - RUSSIA'S INVASION OF AND ATTEMPT TO SUBJUGATE UKRAINE AND ITS PEOPLE. PART 10.

 

This state of altered reality demands that people should dramatically and suddenly replace their/our perception of what is 'normal and reasonable behaviour', with the 'abnormal behaviour' which the war has given rise to. 

That, as many ordinary people and health professionals know, cannot be accomplished without major traumas; pretty much reflecting the physical destruction being wrought on Ukraine and Russia. More so on Ukraine.

So, what might my concluding thoughts on this war between Ukraine, primarily, and between Russia and Nato, secondarily be? 

Namely this, that President Putin and Russia do have a valid case in their argument that Russia is being hemmed in by Nato countries. 

And that NATO and Russia need to have effective security agreement to manage their security and co-exist. 

That, as both Russia and Nato are opposing entities, their will always be some level of tension between the two. Probably with either of them trying to strengthen their respective positions, when the opportunities for them to do arise. 

Thus we have seen how Nato moves into the geo-political vacuum created by the dissolution of the former Soviet Union, and recruited Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania into its alliance of nations.

That President Putin, in invading Ukraine and engaging in an apparently indiscriminate war on its military and civilian infrastructure, and its sovereignty.  

Has done very serious and probably long-lasting damage to Russia's case against Nato. 

Instead of strengthening Russia's case against Nato, President Putin, in declaring war against Ukraine.  Has alienated Russia's friends and galvanised Ukraine's friends, including Nato, and people and nations who were of a neutral stance, into opposing Russia.

And, finally, that President Putin, the leader who has, probably arguably, done more than all post-Soviet Union Presidents to for the betterment of the Russian people and their national prestige.  

Has, in declaring war on and invading Ukraine, done great and lasting and probably irreparable  damage to the Russian people and country.
