JUST A THOUGHT ON - IF I WERE A MAN, OR, INDEED, WOMAN OF THE CLOTH, HOW WOULD I BE ABLE ...? PART.1.

 

...to live with myself, if I were to find, or admit that have misled 'the flock'?  

Yes, how would I be able to live with myself if the message of the gospel I have been preaching to the flock were to become acknowledged as being not true?

 And the realization that, I, as the proverbial 'good shepherd.'  A man or woman who has or has probably spent the required number of years in theological colleges, universities and religious establishments. 

Studying and cogitating on ancient texts and scriptures. And even more years preaching what I have learnt.

Should have known that it, the message of the gospel.  Could not have been what the prophets, the priests and the scribes of ancient times, claim it to have been?

So, in what capacity do I formulate these thoughts on this subject? Well, I speak as a man who has been brought up in the 'Christian tradition'. 

One who, like many, if not most of my contemporaries and peers, have been nurtured in the orbit of Christianity.  

With the fear and torment of going to what I now know to be a non-existent 'Hell', being more persuasive than the reward of the equally non-existent 'Heaven'

It was 'Heaven' or 'Hell', and who wants to go to the latter? 

Not me, however seemingly impossible it was, and still is, according to the Biblical gospel, for a sane and reasonable person, man or woman.  

To meet the improbable conditions or requirements of earning the passport to 'Heaven.' 

Improbably, considering that, not only did or does a person have to commit the specified 'sinful act', but just thinking of it.  

Was and is enough to place that person, including me, into the category of sinfulness. It was not necessary for me to speak 'sinfully', so that those around me could hear of my 'sin.'
