The much promised and carefully nurtured attempt at post-Soviet Union rapprochement between the Russian Federation and the West, has spectacularly blown up within 3 months of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
And, with it has gone, it appears, all the certainties we had or have about the improbability of nuclear weapons being used by either of the main protagonists.
As the fear of mutual destruction of the both is enough to prevent the one from using such weapons against the other.
So, also, do we no longer hear our leaders, our politicians speaking of endeavouring to establish peace with Russia, ever.
But only of defeating it militarily, economically, politically, morally, and, of, course, building a Nato enforced Iron Curtain around it.
For people who had and were living in the pre-1989 Cold War epoch, it is no mean feat to comprehend and take on-board seismic transformation which has been evolving in 'worldology' since 5th February 2022.
So, it is quite understandable if some people might consider me to be being hyperbolic.
By drawing some kind of comparison between the impact of the repercussions of Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the major shift of gravity in the 2022 Formula 1 season, between the competitive Ferrari and Red Bull Teams, and Team Mercedes.
But that is really what it is; somewhat of a seismic change within the structure and functioning of Formula 1.
With Team Mercedes and its leading racer, the holder of 7 Formula 1 Drivers' World Champion, still being, as it were, at sea in contention for 2022 Championship.
At the pending start of the 5th race of the Season. Of course, Team Mercedes and Hamilton's current predicament is not unprecedented.
It has happened before, even though it might seem very long ago, when it was experienced by Red Bull and their then dominant racer, Sebastian Vettel.
Back then, it was none other than Team Mercedes and their new lead racer, Lewis Hamilton, who removed the baton from Team Red Bull, and have been running with it ever since.
Until the rel-constituted Team Red Bull, with their 'Flying Dutchman' Ace racer, Max The Verstappen, snatched it back and have been racing with it ever since the debacle of the final race of the 2021 Season.
And now, as Formula 1 and its fans are 'forced' to accommodate and then probably assimilate this seemingly phenomenal change in the line up for, at least the first 4 races of the season, with Team Mercedes performing at not much more than 'also raced.'
The question on our minds is that of; not whether Team Mercedes and Hamilton and Russell can turn it around, but rather that of, can Team Mercedes provide them with the car to do so?
We know that the racers can turn it around, however, as our expectations are dissipated by the car's under-performance in each consecutive race, so do our confidence and aspirations decrease.
As we watch and get used to Team Red Bull and Team Ferrari and their gladiatorial racers, Verstappen and Sergio Peres and Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, except for car failure, consistently put in top or competitive performances.
As they had done in Sunday's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen, Perez and Lando Norris triumphing to take the podium, after Leclerc gambled and failed to better Max.
So, A Big Congratulations to Team Red Bull and Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, and to Team McLaren and Lando Norris for making it to P.1, P.2 and P.3.
As we, still with pregnant anticipation, look forward to see how the Miami Grand Prix will evolve and finish.
