JUST PHILOSOPHISING ON - THE IMPOVERISHMENT OF BEING ONLY ABLE TO LIVE A 'ONE-DIMENSIONAL LIFE'! FINIS !!

 

Music can and does performs the role of being an accompaniment to many of the activities us humans perform in our daily lives. 

Like a chosen wife for the appropriate menu, the right music can help to put us in the 'right mood' for love, for war, for contemplation, for feelings of pain or grief, for working fast or slow, and so on.

Music can act like a drug on us. It can soothe our restless and anxious 'souls', or it can help us to 'snap' out of our melancholic mood. 

And so it seems to me, that we are richer and healthier to be blessed to have access to different kinds of music, considering that no one genre is likely to be able to suffice our changing moods needs at any given time. 

Whether it be for music which cheers us up, assist our need for reassurance, helps us to better contemplate our options, or navigate our sadness or sorrow.

Probably even more profoundly, music, like language, can and does reflect the 'soul', the identity and culture of its originator/s. 

It can speak of the journey a people have made and the experiences they have had and endured on their journey. 

As we have seen from the music denoting the experiences of the Jewish and African diasporas, among others.

This is also like to be the situation  with other aspects of our living, be it food, drinks, religion, sports, clothing, dress fashion, and, indeed, cultural and ethnic diversity. 

As has been said, variety is indeed 'the spice of life', or, I might add, of living, and living more fully and inclusively. 

To occupy just or only the worldview we have been socialised into by our inherited culture, would be to live a life of relative impoverishment and not to grow. 

Unless, of course, we are fortunate enough to be born into a truly inclusive and culturally diverse society.
