MY TAKE ON IT - THAT PEOPLE 'DECLARED BRAIN DEAD' SHOULD BE KEPT 'ALIVE' ARTIFICIALLY, IF THE FAMILY INSISTS. PART 1.

So, what is my take on this issue; that people, including children, should be artificially kept alive, if their parents and/or family insists that this should be done?

This being a very topical issue in Britain at present, following the most recent case which have been exhaustively done the rounds.

With the child's parents refusing to accept the conclusion of the medical professionals, the their son has, unfortunately, died.

And that it was in the child's best interest that his ventilator, the machine which was doing his breathing for him, should be switched off.

As, the medical professionals argued, by way of my summation, he would not regain the state of autonomous living again.

Yes, from a personal perspective, we, or most of us can appreciate how difficult it is for us humans to 'accept' death.

Especially the untimely demise of young children, even though the people of some cultures might handle the associated grief better than some western or European cultures now do.

With Europeans having made so many commendable advances in banishing diseases which have exacted massive mortality among our species.

And seemingly capable of banishing death itself, before they achieve the hoped for, but most probably impossible eternal life in the realm of the fictitious hearafterdom.

We can, to some extent, understand why there seems to be this resistance towards accepting the necessity to die.

Now, it really is the case that, before modern humans had developed our advanced technological and scientific medical armoury, there would have been no such debate about dying.

People took ill or become mortally wounded and it was just a matter of making them as comfortable as possible and wait for them to pass.

It is probably ironic, as well as sad, that, with our increasing advancements in medicine and healthcare technology, there is, to some degree, a reinforcement of the belief that we can, and should live longer and even forever.

To be continued!
