THE UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX - VERSTAPPEN STILL UNSTOPABLE, BUT HAMILTON'S MOVING CLOSER!

So, a Very Big Congratulations to Team Red Bull and the indomitable Max Verstappen, for securing another win at Sunday's United States' Grand Prix.

And a similarly Big Congratulations to Team Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, for making it to another P2, in a season in which achieving a single win, is still proving elusive and beyond their capability.

Yes, this was one which, until the final 6 laps, were looking within their grasp, until Max began to exert what seemed to be Red Bull's inexhaustible pace, and simply rolled over the Mercedes, as the Team has been doing all season.

A Big Congratulations to Team Ferrari and the fearless Charles Leclerc, for making it to P.3, as they failed to make it to the required P.1, if they were to deny Team Red Bull from winning the Constructors' Championship, at this race.

Much could be said about the passage of the United State's Grand Prix of 2022.

Such as the fact that it was spectacular, as evidenced from both Russell and Alfonso finding themselves in undesired embraces with colleagues during the race.

In the case of George Russell, with the unfortunate and hapless Carlos Seinz, who was forced to retire after GR's embrace at the beginning of the race.

And with Fernando Alonso's and Lance Stroll's collision, as the former endeavoured to execute overtaking the latter, was even more spectacular.

As Alonso's car's front wheels raised off the track, as if the car was a prancing horse, but, fortunately, came back down in a balanced and safe manner.

There seemed to have been no shortage of Safety Car interventions and restarts, although, in truth, there were not really as many as it might have appeared to have been.

Probably the most or one of the most exciting phase of the race, was during the Max-Lewis challenge, when Hamilton did enough to deceive us into believing that he really had a chance of winning the race.

I guessed it was not difficult to create this aberration, as those of us who earnestly desire to Team Mercedes and Hamilton 'pull one off', are, understandably, prone or susceptible to self-delusions.

And so it was, that we were easy prey to misinterpreting the slight lead Hamilton had over the pursuing Verstappen during the first 5 of the last 12 laps of the race, into something bigger and more significant.

And no sooner than Max, like an anime protagonist using an invisible golden wire to reel the unwilling but comparatively paceless Hamilton in, did we find it impossible for us to continue with our self-deception.

Even more so as we watched Max not only overtook Hamilton, but going on to win the race by over 5 seconds ahead of him.

If ever we did need more proof of how big has/is the pace gap between Team Mercedes and Team Red Bull, despite the undeniable fact that Team Mercedes has lessened it over the season.

It is what it is, as the saying goes. For now, A Big Congratulations to all the racers and their teams, for their contribution toward providing us with an exciting and enjoyable Grand Prix!!!
