JUST PHILOSOPHING ON : SOME OF WHAT I HAVE LEARNT FROM LIFE! PART 3.

 

This might well be a survival characteristic, since, although a parent might be disposed to be more protective of a favourite child, the significance of this parent/child dynamics is unlikely to be readily understood by the child at the time of its beginning. 

And so it seems to me that, this rather primitive or prototype 'alliance' which a child tries to establish between his/her parent/s and the rest of the sibling group, where there is one. 

It is one which the child will or can try to extend to his/her relationship with their sibling group. 

By trying to become the dominant sibling and having that status recognised and acknowledged by the rest. 

Of course, this runs counter to the hierarchical relationships which are prominent in patriarchal societies, where status and dominance is expected to run vertically from top to bottom.

So, not surprisingly, I have learnt that, upon reaching school attendance age and entering that process.  

The child has to struggle to fit into and establish new relationships with peers. 

With he/she having to do so in a bewildering environment which is full of fears, threats, and, opportunities which have to be negotiated and managed. 

That, in processing and moving on from this stage of development, the child will come up against situations in which what he/she has been taught by parents and family members. 

Will have to be re-examined and re-analysed and different conclusions and lessons learned. 

Situations which will sometimes lead to the child questioning what they have been told and taught. 

And to the child, now, faced with glaring contradictions, as it were, is likely to experience credibility crises.
