JUST A QUICK THOUGHT - ON THE EXERCISE OFLAWFUL AUTHORITY. PART. 1.

1. The Police citizen and the Citizen In any society which prides itself on rational and reasonable thought and action,  the police, as agents of the law and of the state.   It should be made the duty of the police to, at all times, states their purpose for accosting the citizen, and the legal basis for doing so. The Police should learn to accept and cooperate with reasonable challenges from those on whom they endeavour to exercise their authority.  They need to ensure that they exercise their authority not only lawfully, but also with mutual respect and proper regard for the citizen on whom they are or intend to exercise their authority.

FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX QUALIFYING - HAMILTON DEFIES THE ELEMENTS AND IS MADE HAPPY!

On a day when the heaven opened up and the God of Rain seemingly weeps not only profusely, but persistently and make the Styrian Circuit more conducive for the sailing of strong little boats than for Formula 1 racing cars.  The challenge of the gods of the rains and of fate, bot adverse and favourable, was thrown down, as they, the gods, declare:  Come forth for battle, oh brave and fearless racers, and let us see who are the best of you all? And so it was that all 20 racers of the 20 competing Formula 1 teams did step forward and entered their racing machines.   And, in their turn, sped of along the rain-soaked, visibility defying and Syrian Circuit for, not one, but 3 fateful qualifying sessions. At least, those who made it first to Q2 and then to Q.3. And of all the racers, Lewis Hamilton, with his excellent driving performance, did brought more than a ray of dazzling light to all 3 sessions of Qualifying. And so it is that I am move to say,  A Big Congratulation to you, Lewis and T

JUST A THOUGHT - ON HOW THERE WILL ALWAYS BE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PEOPLE. PART 1.

The 'good life' does not have to be a one modular, the Europeanised version.' It can also be modelled on the conditions of other countries.' In the ceaseless, the relentless and perpetual struggle for social or societal justice and equality of treatment.  Whether it pertains to racial, ethnic, gender, sexual, religious, cultural or political justice, there is a tendency for all or some of us humans to perceive or conceive a picture of everybody being treated the same.  Everybody having access to the same kinds of things, the same treatment and the same aspirations.  It seems to me that some of our visions, or aspects of our visions are faulty. That they would qualify for being put into the category of 'pie in sky', 'wishful thinking' which could not and will not become realisable.  This is partly because we are failing to initially contextualise all of these injustices in the context of individual countries, and their resources and developmental readines

AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX - AN UNLIKELY RACE AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALEX ALBON! FINIS.

Image
The outcome was that Albon's car spun around and saw him exiting the race, while Lewis' car remained in good enough shape to see him completing the race.  But only being able to make it to P.4, after being punished with a 5 second penalty. While Lewis and his fans might have been disappointed that he had not progressed, effectively, from his starting position on the grid, by the end of the race.   It was a disappointment which would have been nothing compared to that experienced by Alex Albon and Team Red Bull.  Mainly because, not only was this the second time that Alex and Lewis have found themselves in race-ending uninvited vehicular embraces.  But, once again, it brought a premature end to near certain points scoring races by Albon.  And it shows; Alex Albon was very very disappointed, and would understandably be feeling very unset, as he fought to contain and repress his frustration and pain.  And, to his credit, he did it successfully, and, for that alone, he could have b

AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX - AN UNLIKELY RACE AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALEX ALBON! PART 1

The Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring Circuit was the first Formula 1 race of 2020, and was won by Team Mercedes and their Driver, Valtteri Bottas.   Who, despite the couple of Safety Car interventions, had no difficulties in converting his Pole position from Saturday into a much desired and deserved win on Sunday.  For Lewis Hamilton, however, the gods had something quite different in store.  He arrived at the circuit on Sunday to be greeted with the disappointing news that he had been demoted from his P.2 Qualifying position to P.4.  As he had, belatedly, been found to have  infringed one of the rules during Saturday's Qualifying session. Soul destroying and precipitative  as that news might have been to Hamilton and Team Mercedes. There was worse to follow during the race. As fate would deliver the great racer another two proverbial 'gut-wrenching' blows. The first of these which would see, irrespective of whether or which driver would be deemed to be at fault and

RELIGION DILEMMAS AND PARADOXES - THE RELEVANCE AND VALUE OF 'GOD' IN OUR LIVES TODAY! PART 3.

Image
It is the prerogative and duty of humans to ask questions of and interrogate our environments, both internal and external, and endeavour to create new realities and experiences.  There are no 'given' or 'received' wisdom which we should spare the microscope, including that pertaining to the  relevance or irrelevance  of 'God.' This is the condition on which our survival is based!' This is how advances have been made in the medicine, surgery and other areas of our lives. It is how us humans are able to make major advances in healthcare, in understanding and defying gravity, and making planes and being able to fly.  In being able to get men and women to space and the Moon and being able to explore them. To develop new tools with which to work, such as the radio, TV, camera, internet.  So, why not in the area of theism, as the central pillar of religious belief?  I mean, imagine how much and how negatively the world, the advancement of us humans, would have bee

JUST A THOUGHT- ON WHETHER COVID-19 HAVE FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED HOW WE LIVE OUR LIVES? FINIS.

Image
And so it is that, as was the 'Black Death' for our ancestors, the question that Covid-19 poses for us who are now living in the present, is this:  'Will it, Covid-19, changes our lives, or, rather, how we live our lives, fundamentally?  Which is to say, radically different from how we were living before, and, if so, permanently? If we were to take a historical or evolutionary approach towards analysing the impact of covid-19.   On how we who are affected by it respond, then, making statements such as 'we cannot return to the old normal,'' and must look to evolving 'the new normal,' would not seem to be the buzz words or statements they appear to be.  Outside of the context of historical and evolutionary processes. The fact is that, 'normal' is no less than a process.  It is not a constant or permanent state. It might not be always obvious, but things, different and sometimes the same things, are always changing and being changed.  Even if they m
